Sketches + Logo + Letterhead + Business Card

Moving on from our naming and wordplay exercise, Peter set us an additional task which was to create three logos from our chosen business names. Developing ideas and sketches and designing a logo to put onto a business card and letterhead for us to present back to the class the ideas and logos we came up with.

Below is a mind map based on my business names Plane Ink, Feather Force and Sonic Print:

Before I began my sketches I simply broke my names up again and drew mind maps from each word based on whatever word came to my head related to that topic and wrote it down. Similar to the initial wordplay exercise this instantly helps me think of words related to that particular word and act as a focus. As shown in the examples above the words that came to my mind helped me begin the initial sketches because I had a platform to base my ideas on, and I believe this actually helped me churn out more ideas for the sketch stage before I delved into the actual logo design.

Once I had reached a number of words I was satisfied with I moved onto the sketches for each business name, seen below:

Once I had my sketches I picked the design I was happy with and what I thought was the most effective in my opinion for each business name, and below are my final designs for each design group name and a mock up of how they would look like in a letterhead and business card:

This is how the logo, letterhead and business card all looked once they were implemented into a mock up, with this I was ready to present to the rest of the class the sketches, ideas and logos I had created based on our business names.
